This is my first screencast. I’ve learned a lot about recording screencasts while doing this. The screencast was recorded using a free trial of Camtasia for Mac. The trial is up in 30 days, so I’d really appreciate donations to help me get ScreenFlow so I can continue to produce screencasts.

In the meantime, here’s a basic rundown of the 4 basic types of routes in Ruby on Rails.

Ruby on Rails gives you some simple but powerful tools for mapping URL’s and HTTP Verbs to your Controllers and Views. Here is a simple walkthrough of 4 of these ‘Routes’: default routes, regular routes, named routes, and RESTful routes.

Good effort. Liked the music at the beginning.

Few things for next time:
1) The quality of the screencast goes down considerably when I maximise the player. You should look into that for sure.

2) Speak up a bit. I can hear you but you can be a little bit louder.

Apart from that its quality.

Thanks for the feedback on the screencast. It was my first, so I’m still working out the kinks. Do you know anyone who is really good with Camtasia? I’m trying to figure out the ins and outs of recording with it.

I’m probably going to record the audio with audacity from now on. It should help with the little bit of white noise on the audio and I can amplify it a little. I had the sound turned up all of the way, which tells me that I need to figure out how to work around the low volume.

If you have any other suggestions, I’d appreciate them as I’m still kind of new to this.

I think than just unlock the videos on Vimeo for watching on it or just release the download (Vimeo also has this feature), will be give the users all necessary. I don’t understand why release for the others a video and lock your visualization in Vimeo.

I’ve been working with http://teachmetocode.com to record some of these videos. Those videos are hosted on that sites account with their security settings.

I do intend to release some videos of myself doing code katas (ala Corey Haines) which will be embeddable and probably downloadable. I appreciate the feedback and will do my best to provide top quality content for both you and them. I really think they have a terrific group of experts and a provide a great service to the community.

Sorry, but the screen text is just unreadable for me.

I apologize for that. I’ve had a few people point that out to me and I’m looking into what I did wrong so I can fix it for the next screencast.
